Online voting for alumni association elections

Reach alumni across cities and countries with a clear ballot and a voter list you have checked before launch.

What usually makes this election difficult

Graduation year, chapter membership, and current voting rights are different facts. An old alumni directory or social group should not become the electorate without review.

Email addresses change after graduation. Invite members to check contact details early rather than trying to repair a list while Live voting is open.

A local closing time can confuse members abroad. Include a date, time, and named time zone in the election notice and reminders.

A simple workflow

  1. Decide whether this is a chapter election or an association-wide election.
  2. Confirm eligibility and ask alumni to update email addresses before the cutoff.
  3. Prepare officer positions and consistent candidate descriptions.
  4. Test the ballot with a sample member away from the organizing team.
  5. Communicate individual access, the closing time, and the result plan.

What Votes.ng helps you control

An approved list keeps old directories and informal groups from deciding who can vote. Individual access supports remote participation without distributing a shared public ballot link.

Prepare positions and candidate information, review eligible voters manually or by CSV, and try the complete journey in Test mode. Each eligible voter uses a personal voting link or their email and voting code. The organizer can follow participation without a named list of ballot choices.

When Live voting closes, finalize the aggregate result and choose whether to publish its result record. A voting receipt can confirm a recorded submission without showing candidate choices.

Alumni associations launch checklist

  • Chapter and cohort eligibility checked
  • Stale email addresses resolved
  • International closing-time notice checked
  • Candidate information shared consistently
  • Support contact available to remote members

Online access does not change your association’s rules. Check any notice, membership, or geographic requirements before launch.

Common questions

Can alumni outside Nigeria participate?

Eligible alumni can use their access online. Check your rules and test the experience for members in other locations.

Do alumni need an organizer account?

No. Voters use their personal voting link or email and voting code.

Can a social group serve as the list?

Use it for communication if appropriate, but verify voting rights against the association’s approved membership record.
