Schools and student groups

Simple online elections for schools and student groups

Prepare a clear student council or club ballot with defined eligibility, a tested voting journey, and a result students can understand.

What usually makes this election difficult

Enrollment lists can include students who are not eligible for a particular council or club election. Check the relevant class, year, or group before import.

Student records can contain far more data than voting requires. Keep dates of birth, addresses, health details, and family information out of the election roster.

Shared labs and devices need privacy arrangements. Staff can help with access while giving students space to make their own choices.

A simple workflow

  1. Confirm the eligible student group and staff responsibilities.
  2. Prepare only the names and email addresses needed for access.
  3. Check candidate descriptions, especially where candidates are minors.
  4. Use Test mode to try the ballot, instructions, and shared-device process.
  5. Provide access, explain support, and communicate the result under school policy.

What Votes.ng helps you control

Test mode lets staff check the experience before paid Live voting. Organizer views show participation without a direct named student-to-choice record.

Prepare positions and candidate information, review eligible voters manually or by CSV, and try the complete journey in Test mode. Each eligible voter uses a personal voting link or their email and voting code. The organizer can follow participation without a named list of ballot choices.

When Live voting closes, finalize the aggregate result and choose whether to publish its result record. A voting receipt can confirm a recorded submission without showing candidate choices.

Schools and student groups launch checklist

  • Current enrollment and group eligibility checked
  • Student data minimized
  • Candidate information reviewed under school policy
  • Shared-device privacy plan tested
  • School support and result communication agreed

Follow your school’s privacy, safeguarding, consent, and election policies. The school must decide what is appropriate for minors and its community.

Common questions

Do students need an account?

No organizer account is needed to vote. Students use their individual election access.

Can staff test the election?

Yes. Use sample voters in Test mode and review the complete journey before Live launch.

Can staff see student choices?

Organizer views show participation rather than a named list of choices. Avoid drawing conclusions about individuals from small-group totals.
