Online elections for professional associations

Run officer and board elections for a defined professional membership with clear eligibility and a manageable voting process.

What usually makes this election difficult

Active or financial membership can determine voting rights. Agree on the record date and resolve disputed renewals before building the roster.

A professional register may contain several membership classes. Determine the eligible group from your rules rather than assuming every contact has the same rights.

Busy members need concise candidate material and a precise deadline. Give them the essential information in advance so access messages do not carry the entire election explanation.

A simple workflow

  1. Confirm the membership classes entitled to take part in this election.
  2. Approve a current list after the financial or renewal cutoff.
  3. Review nominations, position titles, and selection limits against your rules.
  4. Test the member experience, then send each eligible member their own access.
  5. Preserve and communicate the finalized result through the agreed governance process.

What Votes.ng helps you control

A defined roster helps the election team separate eligibility review from voting. Private ballots let members choose officers without exposing their choices in organizer views.

Prepare positions and candidate information, review eligible voters manually or by CSV, and try the complete journey in Test mode. Each eligible voter uses a personal voting link or their email and voting code. The organizer can follow participation without a named list of ballot choices.

When Live voting closes, finalize the aggregate result and choose whether to publish its result record. A voting receipt can confirm a recorded submission without showing candidate choices.

Professional associations launch checklist

  • Membership classes and cutoff documented
  • Renewal disputes resolved before launch
  • Candidate nominations accepted under the same rules
  • Member notice reviewed by the election team
  • Result and tie procedures agreed

Votes.ng does not support weighted, delegate, or proxy voting or automatic quorum decisions. If your rules require those methods, this workflow will not fit that election.

Common questions

Can only current members vote?

The organizer adds the approved eligible members to the voter list. Votes.ng does not decide membership status for you.

Can we test before paying?

Yes. Test mode is free and its participation stays separate from Live voting.

Does software replace our bylaws?

No. Your governing rules remain the source for nominations, eligibility, voting method, and disputes.
